Have any questions or tips and advice on how to build those bits that don't come ready made.

Converting 7mm to 4mm prints via % in paint

Post by End2end »

I've found seating cover sheets in 7mm (O) and need to convert them to 4mm (OO).
Using the KISS principle could someone let me know what % I would need to shrink them by using windows paint for 4mm (OO) seats please?
Thanks

Divide by 7, multiply by 4 then by 100 for percent. seems to come out at 57.14% which sounds about right to me.

Just a quick check and paint does not allow decimals so 57% will have to do. ;)
Thanks

These are something you want to print onto paper or what?

for printing you will get better results using something like GIMP

With this, rather than reducing the picture size you can reduce the printing size but still retain the same number of pixels.

This results in a much higher quality print.

e.g.
Original size 300px x 100px
the original (300px)
the original (300px)
grumpy-pies.jpg (14.89 KiB) Viewed 799 times
reduced to 79px using irfanview. When printed this came out very fuzzy.
reduced to 2cm (79px)
reduced to 2cm (79px)
grumpy-pies-2cm.jpg (3.27 KiB) Viewed 799 times
Print size changed to 2cm but keeping 300px. Reducing the print size increases the pixels per mm when printed.

Thanks Ironduke. I'll check that out. :)
Luckily, yesterdays idea will be for internal seating. Mrs End2end already has the 57% version and will print them today so I can see the results. If they are not very good I'll give the resizing another go.
Thanks
