Help designing small interesting layout 4 x 2

Post by Derekmurton »

Hi I’m a newbie and in the process of building my first layout 4 x 2 and have learnt a lot lot off other forums laying track ballasting electrics turnout motors insul breaks etc in N guage and people have been very patient and Helpfull. I am however limited to this small size.

I’m looking now in the future that I wanted to build an interesting layout with scenery modelling tunnels etc at different heights and am looking at ideas.

I would like to base it on GWR and or Devon Cornwall and late Steam.

Any help and ideas would be most welcome, I have used scarm in the past for single level layout but am looking to be inspired.

I find it a little difficult to think in 3D. I am a little dyslexic

Thanks in advance.

4x2 is very small if you want to squeeze a managable gradient in. The Woodlandscenics scenic ridge layout is a good example but it's 6x3.
