I lack any significant joinery skills so the joints on my 27x44 framework will be secured using 50p brackets I got from Wilko, in addition to driving screws into the cross members.

Although the board might be moved at sometime within the room, so I might fit castors to the legs, its essentially intended to be a permanent fixture.

As long as it works it is ideal. :)
Those brackets can be very useful.

After about 4hrs !! work my basic 8x4 framework is cut & assembled each joint doubly secured by using Wilko angle brackets.

Tomorrow I'll fit legs & castors then I can stand the frame upright and attach the ply top.

The cost of building my baseboard myself is only cheaper than paying the local handyman to do it because of my 'free labour'.

Worth it for the practical exercise, & moneywise I probably "saved" about £50/£60.

My main tip would be label all the pieces of timber so you know how it all fits together, otherwise you'll end up doing things twice.

Sometimes one can get wood free as builders often give it away rather then pay to have it recycled.

I'm just in the process of building my new baseboard, while working away I remembered this thread and thought I'd add my bit. Drill holes for wiring through the bracing before fixing down the board, it is a real pain otherwise.

Well, that would be me. I did incorporate a scaffolding to augment the back scene
prints, thanks to another poster who first demonstrated the idea of using the
back scene to support a dust jacket. I shall have Henley up and running soon,
thanks to the useful advice herein.
