It would look good in a open mine setting, or as suggested, good for digging a canal.

I should get a reply from Baoblaze tomorrow, so I will see what they say. If there is no refund, I may have to think about a change to incorporate it....

The crawler unit (without the jib) looks similar to a Leibherr 960 which is nearly 8m long, so your 90mm dimension is correct.

It's quite a beast !!
Now if I had the space .... a large Iron Ore quarry, O.K that's small
compared to the giant excavators that I used to see up at Corby area
in the 1960's, but would make a statement.

I don't know if it would work or look right but if you can't get a refund could you reduce the height of the jib by taking a section out.

A reply from Baoblaze this morning.

They say it will take too long to return, and refund.
They have offered a partial refund of £8, and I can keep the monster. It may go to my grandson, if he is interested.

After a re-think, I will use the Dapol Dockside Crane, and make a new base for it. I have ordered a clam shell bucket from KGB Models. It will be static, but I think a better solution.

If I may pinch this thread for more 'scale' chatter.
Everybody has read reviews of locos, or stock where the occasional item is criticized, in fact torn to
shreds by some exacting reviewer. Don't get me wrong I do like things to be as near as practical to
the correct scale size - Except for those running '00' who have already sold their souls to the devil.

It's back to trees that are so rarely shown to a realistic scale it's laughable. Why are there NO good
looking commercially available trees in the height range of 12" (300+ mm) to 16" (400+ mm). Of course
they would be expensive, perhaps £40 - £50 each, yes it sounds a lot yet people who would never
pay that much for a tree will happily spend £250+ on a '00' sound fitted locomotive, often one of many
they own. For me a stand of 3 quality trees of height and spread would make a more obvious statement
on a layout than a few sound locos. Anyway we'd have it all, wouldn't we ??

So if you know of any min size 12" quality tree availability let me know. I've just bought a few more
Woodland Scenics 8-9" the tallest I can find, at about £14 each (that has carriage included). Yes I
would happily spent a few hundred quid on a decent '00' 4.0 mm scale wood.

As an aside, N scale can be more confusing, in the UK, N is 1:148 scale but in the USA, Europe and Japan the scale used there is usually 1:160, but they all use 9mm gauge track.

That huge cam-shell grab, looks better on the docks. I built a Dapol dockside crane, modified to go in the factory yard, where it doesn't look out of place.
