Class 66 (66177) lights
Class 66 (66177) lights
Hi
Did a silly thing. I removed the body from the chassis and the wires connecting the lights broke away. I've bought a new connection harness but don't know what wire goes where on the lighting PCB on the body to solder on the new connection rig. There's 3 solder spots so can any one tell me or post a picture of where the blue, white and yellow wire get connected to the PCB. The board is marked RoHS CR_66_LED.
Thank you Eddie

Re: Class 66 (66177) lights
Welcome, and let's hope someone here has a dapol 66 (I guess n gauge) and can help.
Are there are any letters or numbers on the board near these connections? If so they may give a clue, if they can be read.

I'm afraid the only markings on the board ive stated. Hoping someone has this model and perhaps can post a photo of the connections.
Thanks Eddie
Thanks Eddie

Could you post a photo of your loco? Someone may be able to work out where the wires should go from a picture.

Hi
Attached is a picture. The 3 solder points are right of centre.
Thanks

Sorry it wont take a .jpg file....
How do I upload it???

I cannot see enough detail - not even the socket to take the plug connector! - to make any useful suggestion beyond this: surely the detached wiring is equivalent to what supplies the lights at the top end of the model (as seen in your picture) so try copying that.
If no progress proves possible, contact DCC Supplies, as they are Dapol's repair agent.

Thanks but that's a new connection that I bought and soldered to the chassis wires I tried DCC but the couldn't help. I'm hoping someone has this and they can post a photo of the body removed from the chassis showing the connections.

Hi Eddie,
Have you sorted this now ? have a dapol 66 like yours but 1 red wire and two black wires from the pcb to connector, was your original connector like this ?
Pete

Re: Class 66 (66177) lights
One wire will be common to both forward and reverse, something like Blue + Yellow (forward) / Blue + White (reverse).
Use 2 bits of loose wire with a 9v battery to find the common terminal by touching the terminals on the lighting bar in pairs.
If you find that touching 2 of wires (from the battery) to 2 of the terminals (on the lighting bar) does not light any lights, neither is the common wire terminal. Do try both wires swapping them over first before summarising that neither terminal your touching is the common wire terminal.
Thanks
