Hello Happy Modellers,
After reading and rereading this excellent website, I found this small shunting layout (00 gauge): Barber's Bridge. The scenic section of this layout measures only 22" x 8", with an additional 14" of hidden track. First thing first, I drew the track plan but I am not satisfied with the result. All your comments and advices will be very appreciated. Thanks.

Re: Montfort's Bridge
Why not use a sector plate instead of one or even both of the points?
Re: Montfort's Bridge
Why are you not happy?
The fist thing I noted on the original is that it is not standard settrack pointwork.
The second is that it uses a right and then a left rather than the 2 left hand ones that you have used.

Looks more like a "y" then a left to me. This would be a good layout to build and practise your scenic skills on, some small buildings, low relief backscene etc, you could also later build your freight shunting yard on the other side of the small fiddle yard so once you have finished shunting the loco could be detached and run forward into the depot to be replaced by another for the next puzzle. There was an interesting one in one of the magazines recently where the builder had sliced an old Lima 08 in half and put them in the low relief shed a the end of the layout, giving the impression of two full shunters partially sticking out of the shed.

This Signature Left Intentionally Blank, but since I have written this and I intended to do it, this Signature is intentionally not blank. Paradox or What?

So it does, perhaps I should have gone to that well known outlet

You're absolutely right. If iI use my two left hand points, I'll never get the same track plan as the original.

Thanks for your answer luckymucklebackit. You gave me a lot of good reasons for building a small layout like this one.

Re: Montfort's Bridge
That will make a nice micro layout. I prefer roundy layouts though I know you have explored that option.
