Thanks for the replies, Jim I do doubt that it will ever get that hot in Scotland, but I also doubt that we'll ever get as cold as it dose in Scotland (heaven forbid)
Ex-Pat, copy away, it helps the cause, to give you a better idea on how I did it, here's a couple of pics of the underside. Looks a bit like one of the old bomb sites with the timber holding the wall up, but this is on the 'inside'

Still working on the station, built the canopy on the platform side, sorry no pics yet.
But I have started another loco, I have a C12, in brass, I've re-wheeled it and fitted a new motor but it's always been a bit of a rough one, so while I was fiddling with it the other day I gave the chassis a run to warm it up, and it ran well, I put a couple of coaches on and away it went, after about half hour, I popped the body back on, back to it's normal self, I tried black tape, nothing has worked, so I'm making a new body for it, I have a couple of 'Nellie' chassis, so I could well end up with two C12's
If you want to try, you'll need a couple of Thomas's bodies, Well the tanks anyway, I hacked of the tanks off of Thomas, which after removing the extension are the right size (lucky eh ! unfortunately, that's about all you can use, I'll try the buffer-beams later. You only need three tanks, see pics below, one each side and half a tank each side 'after' the cab opening, the boiler is a bit of conduit, I tried to use Thomas's boiler but it 's a bit small, the running plate is a one piece and flat, the plans come from the Model Railway Constructor, August 1971, I knew it would come in handy one day Here's some pics.

A couple of days go by, and another update, the C12 is behaving itself, everything going right. Enjoy

On the way home yesterday I was siting back letting my wife do the driving as we passed under the M4 on the A34, Looking up I spotted the thrust beams stretched between the abutments and though "lolly sticks"Ex-Pat wrote:Echo Jim's comments manna.

You will never look at lolly sticks again in the same way.

As usual, looking good, but I'm not too sure of the livery at this stage!

Re: Edgware GN,
Interesting how the rear end (without the coupling hook) looks much neater and better (to me at least) than the front end - do you run any without hooks?
Re: Edgware GN,
Its looking nice. Reminds me of a loco I made from bits and pieces. I had a Triang Hall chassis and a B12 body with out a tender. I had to make a loco as they were just waiting to be used! I bought an ECM motor to get the chassis to run. Used plasticard to make a rear bunker and I had the B12 front bogie and I used a Triangb Princess bogie cut in half as a pony for the rear pair of wheels. With a thin Peco and aa few Hornby track pins I added safety valves, a whistle, and I used Hornby pins to help with handrail studs. Wire was glued to them to form the handrails as I didnt want to risk soldering so close to the plasticard. The result was good. And yes, I chose wartime black!

Re: Edgware GN,

Mountain, can't beat black.
Ex-Pat, Some have, some don't, quite a few just have the wire goal post type, where you need the hook on the stock, so I have to jiggle stock about as well, the C12 may well have it's couplings removed as they're a bit intrusive.
