Ask away, perhaps one of my main inspirations on NRM is just helping
others to achieve the enjoyment I've had from involvement in the hobby.

I'm finally getting up the courage/effort to replace my pictures, sadly, many of the Budgetbrooke ones are lost forever. I have "reclaimed" a dozen or so of the old stuff from google. I will need to get the layout back out again for more current ones. Gantsville thankfully are all here though.

Uhhh, It's dull, cold and drizzling, plus the wife's working in the kitchen.
So with my normal indoors painting area not available I thought I'd try
my new 4 pillar car lift in the garage at St Oval.



That Hornby decorator figure was the ideal pose, jut the wrong trousers,
or at least the wrong colour overalls.

This still gets work done from time to time, usually when I stalled on other
more pressing jobs.

Nice effect Geoff, that guy looks spot on, think if you painted him in dark overalls you might not see him. My first job we had red overalls that over many years of washing turned pink.

Nothing more to say at present as I'm running-in, it seems to have a very limited

Grim up North ..... Darker by the minute
If only I'd had time a BLUE diesel could have hauled ........ a cattle train, or is that a commuter train ? What's the difference ?

mumbles this is ex-GWR. not that Southern stuff !
This Might be my last locomotive although I have ideas to sound equip a few of my existing locos.

Anyway have a good family Christmas and I should find a few minutes before the end of 2017.

Indeed, but one made it to my line in WW2 with a rail gun... I want to make one!! As you can see though it has been converted to have pannier tanks etc

It has extra water and equipment to hide smoke emissions? Also a Westinghouse brake compressor. I don't see a spark arresting chimney though so it wasn't needed to work in an area where they carried explosives in large quantities. Some spark arresting chimneys were made to the "Neath" design so were different to conventional types, but I dont see either type on this loco.
From what I see of the loco by the way it is kitted out, it was used either elsewhere in the UK which may have had locomotive shortages, or it was used abroad.
The loco actually looks like it may have been fitted out for working on the underground system?
It has intrigued me!

one thing re the underground. These kind of rail guns were often hidden in tunnels locally so maybe that is relevant to the fitting?

With my 2 new 6 wheel Oxford Rail Toad brake vans I'm thinking of doing
a Brake Van Special, what else can one do with 16 assorted brake vans ?

I'm not tempted when at -2 with moisture dripping off the frosted interior
of the corrugated roof as it thaws ....... a real comfortable environment !!

I've had to clean the rails !!! Even DCC locos are reluctant to perform well
under these conditions - nothing less than a scale 3 MPH is reliable.

It's almost tropical today, well 4 degrees C so I mustered all my GWR brake vans into

Brake van allocations :- Rhymney; Penzance; Newport Maesglas;
Bridport; Oswestry; Merthyr (Plymouth St); Gloucester; Cardiff;
Bordesley Junction; Cae Harris; Worcester;

Obviously I have a few BR vans as well - Is this enough ?????????

With that many brakes I'm surprised it moves at all.
I've got some catching up to do. I only have St.Blazey, Bodmin, Par and Owestry. I need the Penzance one to go with them at least!

Nope, the pipes are part of the engine's condensing apparatus which both saves wastage of water and raises the temperature of the water in the side tanks slightly. The GWR had similarly fitted Panniers as did the LNER for some of their tanks.
