2nd & 3rd radii vs 3rd & 4th radii ?

Any questions about designing a model railway layout or problems with track work.

Sorry luckymucklebackit I was editing my post as you was typing.
So would it need to be 4' 1" square?
Thanks

That's correct - you got it!!

Cheers

This Signature Left Intentionally Blank, but since I have written this and I intended to do it, this Signature is intentionally not blank. Paradox or What?

That seems rather large. :?
Are you considering a full circle of track rather than half a circle?
I need 2 baseboards, one for each end with half a circle on each basboard.
Would these be then 4' 1" by 2' 0.5"?
Thanks

That's right - Fourth radius is 22 ½", so diameter is 45" add your 2" each side and it comes to 49" (4'-1"), half circle is 22 ½", again plus 2" is 24 ½"

Thanks for the reply luckymucklebackit.
UH OH.
The rooms only 11.75 feet wide and the front layout baseboard that is already built (8feet long) has tracks right upto the edge.
I may need to rethink using 2nd and 3rd radius instead of 3rd and 4th as that equates to 12' 1".
Not sure how much space that would recoup though?
This is a serious flaw in my plans......bloomin amature that I am. DAMN IT!
Thanks

By dropping down to 2nd and 3rd radii will give me roughly 5 inches back which is still not really enough so I will need to cut back some of the straight track already laid on the already completed front baseboard at one end and start the curves off attached to / laid on the front baseboard cutting them where the baseboard join is.
