Check the cylinder block on the Bulleid Pacific hasn't split into 2 pieces where it's screwed to the chassis. This happened to my one and my best mates Bulleid as well. Both were received as Christmas present in 1986, both failed with this fault which jammed the motion within 2 years.
Sadly the replacement cylinder block for this loco is a hard to find now.

Great collection! :D
I really want one of those lit observation cars.
Can you post the make and model number please atnas666?
And also any info that came with it about running on DCC 'lit up'.
Thanks

I have the BR maroon version, only gripe about it is that there is no coupling (or NEM pocket) at the observation end, I had to fabricate a gizmo that fits over the buffers to remove it from the back of train and shunt it around.

Is it supposed to?
I thought the observation coach ran at the rear end of the train so nothing blocks the rear view.
To be honest the only time i've seen the real observation coach was from atop Corfe Castle looking down at Corfe station where the ob coach was at the rear.
Thanks

But when the train arrives at its destination, you have to get a pilot locomotive on the back to remove the observation car, take it to the turntable and get it turned. then get it positioned at the back of the outgoing service. This is probably the reason why the prototype was discontinued!

AHH! I see! (no pun intended  )
I suppose that, plus the removal of most turntables made the ob coach unworkable or redundant sadly.
Thanks for the additional info Jim. :)

it does have buffers and the real ones have a screw link coupling.
