Build quality

Post by bonnetmoth »

Hi All, Just a general thought but is it me or is the build quality of the models coming through these days not really up to scratch, I have just looked at a couple of videos and the quality really seems to have fallen, with out of true cast wheels wobbling all over the place, bent frames, bits falling off did we have these problems when the models were made in uk or am I looking through rose coloured old glasses.

Feel free to shoot me down in flames

No we just had crumbling mazak, crankpins that fell out and coach roofs that curled like a British Rail sandwich. The more complex and finely detailed we demand our models to be the more scope there is for things to be not quite as they should be. If you pressurise the sub-contractor to keep down his costs the first guy to get the boot will be the QC Inspector, never makes anything and generates a lot of scrappage.
