Trwyn-y-Diafol O-16.5

Postby Pedanticmongrel » Tue Aug 27, 2013 3:51 pm

well after having not used this forum for a long time I decided it was time to return and to show off the development of my newest project, Trwyn-y-diafol, ('The Devil's Nose' in English) it is an O16.5 railway running from Cwm Lydia (In my kitchen) up through a zig zag to Wenchford (in the living room), the line climbs on an average gradient of 1 in 40 for a total scale elevation of 51 feet. It was started in October 2012 and is DCC using the Lenz system, but to add to this I have recently started construction of an extension to a new station that has yet to be named and using the viaduct saved from my old 00 layout, http://www.newrailwaymodellers.co.uk/Forums/viewtopic.php?f=22&t=16026&hilit=wenchford+wenchford+railway

The stock is mostly Bachmann On30 RTR with a few kit builds. The current loco roster looking like this:

Hunslet WHR No1 Russell
Image

Manning Wardle Southern 195 'Sid'
Image

Quarry Hunslet 'Hector'
Image

Baldwin 2-8-0 SAR 190
Image

Baguley-Drewery Diesel 'Trawsfynydd Castle'
Image

also there is a Bachmann Forney and 4-6-0 currently running. Future locomotives to add to the roster in the near future are NGG16 87, Double Fairlie Merddin Emrys, England 'Prince', Funkey 'Caernerfon Castle' and another Quarry Hunslet.

Some photos of the layout from the past year:

How nice - had I the money/space/skill, then 0 16.5 would be my modelling of choice! Thanks for the photos.

Quite an interesting layout Dan with plenty of operating potential; I like O16.5 and have a few bits to play about with at some point.
What happened to the standard gauge 7mm stock and layout?

Most of the standard gauge 7mm stuff i had was sold last year, I don't have the space for a standard gauge layout and I wanted to buy a classic car, but i do have some other items that I run on other layouts, I should really put some pics in my '7mm stock on tour' thread if it's still on here.

Sorry to hear that most of the O has gone but equally I admire your ability to sell and move on if it isn't right.
I'm terrible at hoarding stuff that I know I'll probably never use but can't let go of :(

I can be over your way anytime really, but September and October are pretty busy for me at the moment, could do sometime in November if your okay with that?
Love the extension, looking forward to more progress :)

A new addition to the layout this weekend, the NGG16 has finally been built and today ran a loaded test train over a round trip of the line.
