I agree these Walthers kits are absolutely superb.

Here is the Walthers Coke Oven and Quench Tower in situ on my layout (kit ref 933-2972).

This kit cost about £100 and took me weeks to construct. I STRONGLY RECOMMEND that when you come to painting, you use HALFORDS RED PLASTIC SPRAY PRIMER for the Furnace Tower, and GREY for everything else. You will get a far better finish and save days of tedious brushwork!!

after a spell without much happening ive finally started the long process of painting the Furnace. First up has been to spray undercoat's.......and some rust colours added......

next up will be to paint the corrugated area's grey, and the base of the furnace Cement, paint the walkways grey........before beginning on weathering with 'earth' and 'iron oxide'.

Looks great....how straightforward were the instructions, it looks a complicated piece of kit.

Truly eye wateringly good - as in "I think I'll go and sit in a corner and cry over my inabilities".

instrutions are ok but not the best. I had to keep looking at pics on the box to work some things out, as some parts of instructions are not totally clear
on exactly where to glue parts together...........but i got there by examining pics from completed kits and the box pics. also a couple of parts needed
some of sort of trimming to make fit........so a very sharp stanlet knife needed and some steady hands.

Indeed Scott, this is looking great, I think I've a general idea of what else he'll be modelling with this, so I'm really looking forward to seeing future updates :)
