Hi Richard so will you be stretching it a bit by getting a 22 you could use modellers licence and pretend one of theese erstwhile machines was saved from the scrap man.
Re a 40 why not? you could pretend it is thier for an open day.
In early 80's 1 reached Padd after assisting a failure at Banbury, i can not remember which one, but rember seeing a photo of it in a book, so a good possibility it went to Old Oak for refuel. :D

Yes i believe i remember a 40 turning up at paddington and have seen 3 at old oak open days.I also believe 40035 as turned up there.
I have thought of having a 40 but at the moment are rare finds at the moment from bachmann.
Old oak needs a revamp as i am not happy with the backscenes as look rubbish compared to some i have scene on other layouts and will look to replace with scenic ones if i can get some.
New stock in the form of departemental limpets/seacows and a shark brake van have been added for the 31/33/37 and 47s to haul.
33103 was detailed up and weathered yesterday and still have 37506 to do.
I shall over the festive brake in which i have one this year 5days off instead of the 1 have had in the last 20yrs fit 821 with fans and walkways and add more scenics as in grass to the ecs sidings.

Hi Richard looking forward to seeing Greyhound all detailed up. :D
If your layout was earlier, another intersting loco would be a peak 45/1 as Oct 83 -May 84 the 1M14 13.07 Paddington-Liverpool was booked for one coming up to Padd on a early morning train from Cardiff.
Very occasionaly and if we were lucky it dropped a 50 but this was rare, it was al most exclusively Peak hauled.

Looking good Richard, i have to say this is by far one of the best modern image layouts here. The Western Region has always been a favorite in my books, so this is one of my favorite layouts. Clun and Blue Peter add a nice touch to the layout, thinking about getting anymore steam locos? 4930 Hagley Hall and 7819 Hinton Manor were on the main line around that time, could be something to look in to
Class 50's are really starting to grow on me now, I have 50007 (hornby) and 50149 (lima) and both are really good, especially the Hornby 007. Your Western collection is superb and your Warships are top stuff! I really need to keep an eye on layouts like yours more often!

Kenny many thks.
I have been looking at a hall class but am sure i read up that hagley hall was cut-up in 1966,and need a preserved example that does,nt need a renumber and name.
As for greyhound not really much to show once the fans have been added only you can see them.
As stated i am not happy with some of my backscenes and aim to look for replacements and look to add 1013 to the fleet as was often scene at this end of london.

Hagley is preserved, at the Severn Valley Railway, currently awaiting an overhaul in the Engine House at Highley. D1013 is an excellent choice, such a lovely loco and one of my favorite preserved 52's.

+1 I agree with Kenny Ranger is a great loco and as you have Fusilier they would make a great partnership together as they both hauled the Western Tribute Railtoure Paddington to Swansea and Swansea to Plymouthy and back to Padd.
Richard i bet you was on that? enjoying at the time the Western's last main line outing.
Ranger was actualy my first Western for haulage on the SVR way back in May 1992 (i think it was?)
If i go down the preserved route i will defintely be adding a Wizzo but of course Venturer would have to be renamed.
I take it you will be modelling Ranger with red plates?, as 1013 was unique in been the only blue Western to have red backed plates.

Kenny.
pardon me for getting it wrong on hagley hall is that the one bachmann have just released or is that ragley hall.
No i was not to much regret on the western tribute as was made to work that day by a deltic fan,Grrrrrrr.
I was thou on the western memeriol seeing D1041 on parcels duty at paddington at 1am during my stay over night.During the tour 1010 passed at reading on a stone working and 1013 was on raliegh on return.i was also on the western renion.
Yes 1013 was a beast and broke records reaching leeds with just weeks left.

Once xmas dinner out was over as am not one for sitting still and watching rubbish on the tele i retired to the layout for a cple of hrs.
I had to withdraw 47701 due to bad wheelsets and decided to fit some new ones from howes brought sometime ago.
The results was 47701 was soon back into traffic.
More ballasting has been done and i have also weathered the limpets and shark brake van.
Hope you all had a good xmas and got what you wanted.

Hagley is available from the Severn Valley Railway shops, in a box set with 7819 Hinton Manor, £150 (dropped from £200!)
Great photos once again Richard, the warship looks nice on the table.
