Having thought of this for sometime,my 3 class 52s are going in for some cosmetics this weekend.
I will attempt to flatten out a bit the cab fairings that heljan got so wrong and not likely to rectify in there new batch and with
dapols version not likely until mid next year.I am also going to attempt adding etched roof fans and walkways just to tweek them up a bit.
On the layout front most trackwork around the depot/ecs area will be given a grassy effect as was so in the late 80 early 90s showing how rundown the depot was getting.
I also aim to take pics of clun castle.

It has on and of took all day to put D1015 through the works.
I am happy with the way filing down the roof shape has come out but the fans hardly show through the roof vents.
A cpl of pics here to see if others spot the roof above cab work.

Its time to say a big thankyou again to all those that gave me support through the hard times and those that have injoyed the layout.
Not out of the woods yet as is anyone with severe problems this country and others are going through.
One things for sure its going to take a lot to get back on track and may take many years.
At this time merry xmas and have a great new year to all and most of all happy modeling.
Just a small update.
D1062 and hymek 7017 have gone through the works having roof grilles/fans and walkways fitted and 1062 has had her roof bulkhead filed down.
Just D1023 to do over the weekend.
Again thanks and be jolly.

Hi Richard. Happy to be there for you when you needed it and thank you for your return support with our current problems. It's certainly no secret that the country's not seen a situation this dire since the war and fear things will get worse before they get better. It's great that this layout has survived it all though and that it continues to develop and grow. I've enjoyed every visit so far and look forward to more visits in 2012.

Have a nice Christmas and see you next year.

Thanks chris.
I would mention a specail thanks to 0121modeller for his kind donation of jiffy bags,NSE daz for his insperation towards the build of this layout,ARK ROYAL for his sale and knowledge of class 50s and to all that have injoyed and gave advice and comments on the layout. Also those that share there layouts which give so much joy and read time and always make your own layout 2nd best and to all fellow Hydraulic fans.Happy xmas and a Happy new year to you all..
I will say that this layout as in design is at its peak as no more room to add but as we no model railways always give you something to do.
Future plans involve.
Ballasting some of the main line.
Possibly re do backscenes in certain areas.
Add detail to all heljan locos as in roof fans etc as with my 2 bachmann warships.
Add another class 52 to the fleet as D1013 western ranger.
And most of all,run the layout more wene time permits.
Here again to all MERRY XMAS and happy moderling.

Work over the weekend has involved.
ballasting part of the main line.
ballasting in the front of the fuelling depot .
Giving part of the trackwork around the depot a grassy effect.
Finishing comestics to D1023 roof fans, filing the bulkhead and painting..
Testing sound fitted locos over the ballasted trackwork.
And going for a well earned pint.
Alas now have suffered a muscle spasm in my back and left leg ouch.
I will say if anyone owns a heljan western filing the bulkhead down is,nt as bad in doing as 1st thought and really makes a differance.

2 more locos have had comestics to the roof fans D832 and 47701.
Only by chance did i find out just in time that 832 was is fitted with nbl cl43 fans and walkways and not class 42 as she was a swindon engine.
Took time also on pics of layout due the weedkiller and locos.

Blimey those sidings could do with a good dose of weedkiller! The ballast and weeds really make a difference though. Cracking set of latest pics. The changes to the Westerns is subtle but they look better for it.

Excellent layout and i love your fleet of Vac's shame about the grren thing  but still an excellent Fleet.
Old Oak was my favourite depot principaly because some of my favourite loco's were based there including my machine. :D Sadly it has been knocked dowh now and has joined the realms of Railway History.
Next to 007 you have 47079 and 47484 so you just need 47500 Great Western to complete the green theme.
I like your choice of Vac's although personaly i would have dropped 7 for no 4, 18 for 19 27 for 28.37 for 32 and 46 for 40.

I think the games allready over to the identity of a 50 fan to the last post and welcome back.
Yes i have thought of adding 47500 to complete the set although 2 more arrivals have joined the loco fleet as more kindly donated stock unwanted by the owner so its time for a reviced list.

The dapol western wont be out until atleast this time next year if you go by there record on the class 22.
Saying that the class 22 is a gem of a model and cad cam views of the western are looking good.
If by the time it appears am still in work then yes a dapol western is on the cards but will stick with heljan for the time being.
Worthy a note the layout although work in process is nether ending is to its track and space limits.
Apart from my fav diesels the hydraulics i followed the class 40s until there end but dont think a 40 would suit old oak although i did see them there on open days.
To say dapol are producing blue version 1005 i wonder if they get her right as head board clips one end were removed sometime in her life.
