George's N gauge layout
Hello George,
Looking good - lots of progress.
Not sure if the item about cacti in film cases was an April Fool item - seem to recall it being in the April edition and the RM always seem to do something for April like that.
If you want to see the work of what I think is one of the best model railroaders, Pelle Soeborg from Denmark, go to this link and down load the item 'Big diesels in the desert on Pelle Søeborg's HO scale Union Pacific model railroad'
This guy really is amazing. I opened a copy of the March 2005 Model Railroader and just looked at one of the pictures and knew exactly that it was the main street through Mojave because the motel where we stayed was modelled exactly with all the rest of the street. The pictures alone are just worth looking at - they just overflow with real life detail.
Hope you find it of use?
Woody

I'll get the hairdryer on it and see what happens
Perhaps that's all the foliage needs mate...a quick cut 'n' blow dry!

Seriously though, the main problem you've got is (cue: Kelly, the artist girlfriend...I can't take the credit here!) that the coulours contrast quite sharply i.e. the green and the bright earthy red of the rock (sandstone?) are very contrasting. I guess it's a good old 'trial and error' session for you matey!
Keep it up!
Tim (and Kelly

Oooh it's late, but Mummy's out and Georgie's left home alone with big bro
I have benn thinking
You know that 11ft long 'peninsula' at the top of my plan, where the city is?
Well I'm dispensing with the city, and it's being turned into a fiddle yard.
The reason being I can store 6/7ft long trains; something I can't do with the city arrangement.
"But won't you be bored, my child?" I hear you all screaming at your monitors.
"No!" I cry.
And you rejoice etc. I shan't tell you why I won't be bored, because I bet you can guess
