that narrow gauge is gorgeous!!! excellent set of pictures as usual

i think the clicking might be to do with the valve gear catching a little

Well ive extended my headshunts ready for a large arrival from hattons/heljan in the future  Also the shed area looks like a shed area now. Platform measurements took place for platform1 yesterday, platform2/3 will be done very soon. The slight extention will thopefully start to progress in the very near future in time for the Autumn gala and also the spur off to the Roundhouse has now got its set of points in place, just need to pin it down now.
Thanks Larry, i hope to have another stretch of flexi for the narrow gauge to run on in the near future.
I will check the valve gear, i did suspect it but had not investigated.
Kenny.

Hi Kenny,

I agree with Larry on the valve gear. Also it might be the thingy's that slide on the side of the loco, (Terminology FAIL!) if they are anything like the ones on my 9f, they're flimsy thin mettle bits, you can easily adjust them with tweezers. Just be careful. ;)

Thanks guys, will check it out next time im in the loft.
Onto the preserved railway events, with the autumn gala coming up at the end of this month i have been thinking about future events. First up will be the hogwarts express at the end of october, unfortuantly i havent got 5972 herself, so 6201 Priness Elizabeth will deputise while taking a break from the mainline. Next will be the santa specials, these will run every weekend during december before christmas day.
The winter steam gala will also be held during december, this will be held on tuesday 27th and wednesday 28th, so anything i get at xmas can have its debut ;) This will take a Somerset and Dorset theme with three locos confirmed so far, 34051 Winston Churchill, T9 120 and Collett Goods 3205. At least 6 locos will be in use.
Next up is the 2012 events, first off is my birthday gala, to be held on thursday 23rd of Febuary, this will feature 6 locos in use, including any i get for my birthday. Following that is the Spring gala, i have been thinking about the theme for this and after looking at the events happening in the UK next year its taking on a Record breakers theme. 3 locos have been confirmed for this event which will take place in march (30th and 31st), these are: 3717 City of Truro (carrying BR black by then), 60163 Tornado and 103 Flying Scotsman (also in black)
Other events will be announced later this year which will include the autumn gala (which will be record breakers themed again) plus summer events etc etc.
Finally with all the talk of the National Railway Museum making a bid to borrow 60008 Dwight D Eisenhower and 60010 Dominion of Canada for the 75th anniversary of Mallard's record run, i too will be holding an event in 2013 to mark the occasion, however, im going to slightly out do the NRM with my event by having not only all the A4's running, but 2 extra ones from the dead  2509 Silver Link and a yet to be announced Apple Green A4 (Golden Eagle seems a good candidate) this does mean however, i have just over a year and a half to find another 4 A4's (60009, 60010, 60019 and the Apple Green version) So i have my work cut out (especially trying to find the apple green version!)
Thats all for now! :D

It does look like a very full schedule :P

At Acton Burnell we won't be having a Gala until Christmas, and that will be santa specials of course :D i haven't decided what loco's will be pulling the train but I have a feeling the terriers will get a turn, as will some of the smaller engines and for diesel fans the class 33 and maybe 47, and IF the merger goes through with 'Brockford Railways Ltd.' we will have a vast number of loco's to choose from, such as a class 50 in Network southeast colours and perhaps even a Blue B12, we can only hope the deals will be done soon and swiftly

Good luck with the Autumn Gala! :D

Some news on the gala, the Beattie Well Tanks have arrived in the country, well i say that, i know that someone on another forum has recieved his and they look very nice! So when they arrive i will photograph them and have them running most services up to the gala.
Also my dad has got himself a day off next week so if it isnt very nice weather wise im going to colar him to help me with the boards etc, so the extension might still go ahead in time to be opened at the gala! :D
Thats all.

With the gala looming, i am starting to look for alternative replacements for the still yet to arrive Beatties. I have got some replacements though. 2 locos plus an etra one to make up the numbers, will be drawn from the following list:
7029 Clun Castle*
6024 King Edward I
28xx 2818
925 Cheltenham
A1X 32640
Bill and Ben (Alfred and Judy)
and the latest arrivals (that i had forgotten about!) 9 Donald and 10 Douglas.
The extension will proberly not go ahead for a bit as there has been a delay with planning permission. But 10 locos will still run!
Also a little rumour has been passed onto me that it is an anniversary of the end of eastern steam (or just east anglian) next year, so i will have one of my gala's next year as an eastern extravagansa! Already confirmed are 70000 Britannia and j72 69023 Joem (not sure which gala though, might be the autumn gala!)

But there crossing water! :P
Updates before the Autumn Gala!
I bought some more items of rolling stock on Sunday from the Severn Valley Railway.
1x Lima MK3 sleeper in choc cream (had been repainted) but this was not choc and cream both sides, it had been painted green the side that i couldn't see in the box! But i don't mind, looks like a proper volunteer sleeper now!
1x Hornby Sealion in olive green.
1x Mainline open wagon in Highland Railway green (repainted, needs replacement axles as the whole thing wobbles!)
1x corgi/trackside Ford Transit MK1 van white.
A new auto coach has arrived as a donor for the railmotor, it will be used as an auto coach during the friday of the gala before being chopped to make the extended section of the railmotor.
Now, for the gala itself, the locos running on each day will be as followed (some locos have changed due to the availability of the Beattie Well Tanks)
Friday: 4566 + 3205 on choc cream MK1s
34007 Wadebridge + 5526 on crim cream MK1s
4612 on choc cream auto (only day it will be in use)
Saturday:4566, 5526, 3205, 120, 34007, 4612, 41312 and 82045 (spare)
Sunday: 4566, 5526, 3205, 120, 34007, 4612, 82045 and 41312 (spare)
Monday (additional day): 120, 82045, 41312, 34007 and 5526 (spare)
A couple of extra attractions have been confirmed, a small selection of classic vehicles plus the sheds are open to the public, showing off the GWR Steam Railmotor 93 under construction any locos that are not in use during the day/gala PLUS the addition of LNWR Coal Tank 1054 and BR (E) 60532 Blue Peter on display.
Thats all!
Kenny.

Well day 1 and 2 had a few problems, these were soon sorted though.
Day 1: trains were delayed due to the loft overheating so they didn't start until late on Friday evening.
Day 2: Everything was going well until T9 120 was withdrawn for wheel clean up and check over as she was not running to her full potential. Also 45xx 4566 was withdrawn when she derailed on the points in the headshunt at Llanidloes West. Her place will be taken by 60532 Blue Peter, while 82045 will take the T9's place. Also 69023 Joem was run on the Saturday and will be run once again on the Sunday.
Photos will start to appear soon.
Kenny.
