More progress, starting to build the area's up.

Sorry about the *hit pictures, camera phone seems worse than normal! You can get the idea though.

Some decent pics taken by a mate.

Miley Town Station and the Stabling yard still no where near completion but better idea of the layout so far...

150 heading in to Miley Town, passing the Network Rail maintenance yard (still waiting for bachmann to release the FMU to sit here).

An excellent looking layout there! I think the lighting is fantastic, looks very realistic indeed!

Its only when we come to photo our layouts that artitsts like Chris Nevard can be appreciated. Photography is an art and like all arts difficult to master. You have done well here and I particularly like the evening shot.

Thank you for your kind comments, though I cant take the credit for the photography!

Still a lot to do, as you can see like back scenes. I also have not even started on the stabling yards (not in these pictures - otherside of the tunnel) and also Miley station is not developed at all.

Thinking of expanding across the other wall during xmas also (though building up the confidence to ask the missus!).

Back to it,

As my layout is around the year 2000 era & its a shelf end to end setup I am very restricted in what rolling stock I can run. I only have one station with a run around so loco haulled freight services are a no no.

I have decided to incorporate a restoration yard in to it which fits in nicely next to the old style victorian station. Looks kind of like where a line used to run and the new modern line now runs off to the right of it. Gated it in with some bits lying around and made it look nice and out of frequent use.

Will ultimately stable a Bachmann Class 108 in BR Green here, then I can run it occasionally on the line and perhaps the odd other heritage train.

Sorry cam phone pics but get the idea.

Opens up some doors on what rolling stock I can buy and dont use those sidings anyway as have a much larger storage area further up the layout, developing this at the moment, pics to come after the weekend.

Been a while away. Anyway got permission off the missus to extend further around the room.

Already done the base boards, ripped up the track that needed to be removed and put in the base painting and laid the track. Here is the plan.

Image

The area after the red line is all the addition, gone 2ft wide for the final bit also to incorporate a cemete works and some rural and urban areas.

Will post some pics later of my progress.

This is how the corner terminated previously -

Nice layout... Nice size!

Little tip re camera phone - don't use the zoom as it will be a digital zoom (which is crap) instead try and get closer!

Or, crop and enlarge on your PC afterwards. Most graphics packages can do a much better digital zoom than a camera, using cubic interpolation to keep the noise down and the quality up.

Thats the great thing about shelf layouts - they can be easily extended!

1st wall (stabling yard) 1ft x 6ft
2nd wall (country station and preservation railway stabling) 1ft x 9ft
3rd wall (industrial area and network rail maintenance siding) 1ft x 12ft
4th wall NEW (concrete works and terminal station) 2ft x 6ft

Will take some pics tonight, 4th wall going well. As I mainly operate 153's there is plenty of track room.

yea my missus agreed to 2 walls initially......

The room is only used for guests (we have a fold out sofa bed in there). The only frustrating thing is you cant have a train running around, so no good for kids but for a modelling aspect excellent I find as all parts of the layout are within easy reach for those delicate additions!

The only limitation I find is not so much selection in low releif buildings which are a must due to the width restriction!

The stations/area's names are from the Rabbits that share the room!
