Well ... hereby hangs a story and I was waiting for someone to ask! Where the garden shed is now (housing the rolling stock) there was a very small "lean to" tool shed. In order for the Bambrough line to exist, I needed a shed where I could not only keep the stock but operate the trains so the "lean to" had to go! The "lean to" tried valiantly to break my nose in it's demolition ,please don't ask how, because I knocked myself out doing it and i can't remember why I ended up in casualty!.. that is he truth. I had the upper hand though , because 90% of the Bambrough line is made up of extremely good quality plywood.....which used to be the "lean to" shed that nearly broke my hooter!
The supports are made of cut down fence posts that were marinated in creosote... (and yes i mean proper coal tar creosote... not the pathetic replica rubbish you get today!) and are still as solid as the day they were planted with a huge mallet and my arms!
bet you are glad you asked now
