PECO STREAMLINE SL-E399F N GAUGE *modification*

Postby Dannyproc » Sun Nov 04, 2018 4:28 pm

Hi. I would like to know if you can link the switch rail to the stock rail to ultimately avoid relying on the blade contact for continuity. Just like you would modify a normal point to do this, I’m trying to see if it can be done on my 3 way turnout. Does it get more complicated as I’m already using two frog switchers just to make it operate normally? Will it create shorts linking the rails?

As far as I can tell there are four instances of switch rails to link up. (Both switches in both directions)

All my points on my layout will eventually not rely on blade contact so it would be nice if it can be done on these as well. Sadly I have 36 points and only one of these was the uni frog type recently released :(

Thanks!
Dan Lancaster

Hi Dan,
I think these wire up the same as any live frog turnout, using a combination of switches and insulated joiners. A quick search of the forum finds,
Wiring for Peco N gauge Code 55 3-way points - SL-E399F
