Points mimic board

Postby will100 » Tue Mar 06, 2018 10:03 am

Hi,

Just starting to resurrect a friends old 00 dcc layout, 8x4, which has a diy 4 channel dcc controller and a micro based points controller for up to 11 solenoid operated points.

Seems you can now get some 3.5" displays quiet cheaply and wondered if they could be used as a mimic board to show the position of the points.

Has anyone done such a thing ? ( don't want to go down the laptop method at the moment, prefer real physical controls)

thanks

Hi,

Only just getting into Arduino C++ , never mind trying to learn Python ! :)

Plus have always thought the Pi a bit of a con, the Arduino you just need the board and a usb cable and your are off, the Pi you have got to find a keyboard, mouse , power supply, monitor ...... sounds an expensive and messy setup ..? :(
