Re: Heat Shrink Tubing
You can usually do it by holding the joint on small wires as close as possible to a hot soldering iron or you can use a heat gun.

Some of the more professional types of hairdryer will also shrink it when used with a nozzle.

Thanks for the replies everyone, I had read that it may be a heat gun but it seemed a bit over the top. I'll have to dig it out and have a go.

Re: Heat Shrink Tubing
There is a "proper" heat gun available which comes with heat shields which clip on to the nozzle but it's a bit expensive!!! See this RS Link. I used one of these in the past when I worked in an electronics repair workshop.

I use a small heat gun as used for embossing etc; I pinched it off the wife
Seems to work OK; you can get them for about £12 on eBay.

Heat gun has been dug out and it seems to do the trick.....though I think it would probably be a good idea to use in short spurts and not get too close.

I like it, but I miss trees. I've been to the Forest of Dean a few times, and sometimes I wish I was there!BrotherWolf wrote:I wish I was on Sanday, been to Westray a few times.

Re: Heat Shrink Tubing
To be fair I just use a lighter VERY quickly up and down the length of tubing. Works for me and costs pennies. Be careful not to set fire anything though

The lighter, or even a match, both used judiciously, I have found work well.
