I did look at RS but sadly only a trade counter rather than a browsable shop.

Radio Spares = RS Components
Radio Shack = Tandy electronics

In the north east we have ESR Electronic Components in Tynemouth. An excellent shop where the proprietor knows his stuff and exactly what he has in stock!

I looked and the Maplin website claims to be being set up, so maybe it will be reborn in a slightly different guise.

Yes I meant RS Components. Radio Sahck / Tandy collapsed many moons ago here in the U.K.

These guys are pretty good with a wide range of goods, based just off the M6 in Cheshire or Lancs

Although a trade counter / online sales business, at work we must have purchased hundreds of thousands of pounds worth of items from them over all the installations we completed.
Good company but again not a perusable walk-in shop.

If only their trade counter had an "order to inspect" facility so that you go and look at the possible without having all the hasel of returning them.

PS what do I do now with the bag of AA battery holders delivered in error, but nowhere to return 'em to.
