MAJ Models GWR 57' Passenger Brake Van

Postby Lysander » Fri Jan 14, 2022 4:07 pm

From 50 years ago and just finished, a Collet Passenger Brake Van to Dia. K41.

I bought this kit for just £15, thinking that if age and earlier poor storage rendered it unbuildable, I'd at least have some spare parts for other projects. As it was, it went together reasonably easily and the self-adhesive sides, a MAJ Models selling-point half a century ago, had held up quite well. I used Railtech transfers for the lettering and branding and have added etched brass door handles and grab rails to lift the otherwise extremely flush sides. It is extremely free-running.

I bet it wasn't as many as the handrail pillars that have failed to make it onto one of my locos.

This time Geoff, none! My worry was the grab rails though as I needed seven 4mm ones and I only had seven left on the fret. If one of those had pinged....
