Hi fholred, there are many ways to go about scratch building a bridge. What sort of bridge do you want? View bridges round and about you or do google searches. Any number of pictures will help guide you.

There are probably CAD software programmes you can use to aid the design process or you could sketch something on a sheet of paper and work from that. Alternatively, as I do it, make it up as you go along referring back to real life examples to help you on your way.

Plenty of members on here have constructed their own bridges using a combination of materials so take a look around and see what comes up in a search within the forum.

Here's a link to my bridge build as a starting point.

Most importantly, mistakes will happen. Take it on the chin and try again and have fun too.
