sorry to hijjack the thread, but i read your signature line E2V, and out of interest (and boredom), i looked it up on google translte. it told me it was finnish and said this:
Spectrum of the stomach can I compliment you, but YOU know EKKA hölkäsenpöläystä

:?

Surely it doesn't matter how large the CD player/ipod/computer/tape player etc is. As long as you can fit a small speaker inside the church (or underneath with a hole through the baseboard) the sound will come from the church.

What about an old cellphone that plays music? upload the sound files to the memory card then just turn it on and place under the building.

Think I may use this one for myself :) as I have an old cell phone knocking about. you could use it for all kinds of things, fire, police ambulance. Farm sounds, circus, fair grounds, churches, just use it for general noise (cars etc...) platform announcements. I know the phone I have is a Nokia and the speaker in it is not to bad at all.

There is a company on the internet that sells church bell generator on a printed circuit board, at present can't remember which site it was on, retails about £20 I believe, might have been Digitrains or someone like that.

Sorry I can't help any further.

or you could have a speaker permantly in your church and have a wire dangling out through the bottom of the board to connect to your phone/mp3 player/ipod and you can plug and unplug it as you please.
