Hi Gents,

Thanks for the kind words of support, & I'll take your advice on board. :D

New software arrives tomorrow a real drawing package, once I master this hopefully I can get creative again, I've a few more ideas I want to explore.

Once again, thank you as it's put things into prospective.

Here we go again Boys & Girls,

I've got my new software installed & I had hoped I could transfer my old kits from MS Word into Corel Draw but it just won't take them.....Bum.

So I'm having to start all over again making new templates etc etc.

But I've actually managed to get my first Proto type designed / printed & built using the new Corel Draw. It looks not bad & the finished kit has printed better that the older ones, so things are looking good.

Give me a few more days & I'll see about uploading this to my web site. In the mean time here is a quick peek at the first Corel Draw Proto type.

Once I iron out a few tweaks & get the basic instructions together I'll get it posted.

Just watch this space,

Hi Kiddies,

Thanks for the comments Stew, House still not ready for uploading yet as I've been busy doing some shop fronts, I plan on replacing the scalescene ones used on my own design backscene (As used on Wordsworth) & replacing them with my own, this way the whole backscene becomes my own design & effort & I can then post this backscene onto the website for anyone that may want to use it.

The idea is very simple, you print out on A4 paper (landscape) & then glue them to cardboard, this is then glued or fixed where you want it. I've designed them so you can make them any length you want, you can then finish them off with a L/H or R/H buildings. They do make very cheap & effect scenes by giving that impression of a town.

Once again they are not fully ready but so you get the general idea what I'm doing here are three fronts (Not attached to any structure yet as still in the design phase)

Image

If anyone one has any ideas that they would like me to try, I'll do my best trying to create it, just remember they need to be simple as I'm not ready for any Cathedrals yet !

As soon as the next kits become available (Hopefully within a week) I'll post another update.

Cheers,
Mike.

Hi Kiddies,

Sorry for the delay but the new software is becoming a real pain, damn thing keeps crashing, logged onto the web & found that it's a know issue with version 4 & above.....Wish I had read these before buying the silly program.

Anyway I've managed to complete the latest house kit & I've decided to go with names rather than house 1, house 2, so the first in the new generation kits is called "Shelly".

Follow the link as normal if you fancy having a go.

Next kit in the range is my long awaited backscene.

Catch you later.

Thanks for taking the time to do these Mike. I'd never done anything like scalescenes before but thought I'd download a couple of your kits and have a go at them.

I'm quite pleased with how they've come out. I'm going to get some matt varnish and finish them off at the weekend but here's a pic of the 2 I did in situ.Oh, and they're scaled down to N. I scaled them to 51% (76/148=~0.51)

I'll raise a glass in your honour

Hi Chris,

Thanks for the feedback, they look great, I'll need to add that formula to the instructions just in case other N gauge modelers feel like giving them a bash.

Hope the air wasn't too blue whilst you built them Chris, I curse building the 00 scale size kits.

I know I said I'd get the backscene uploaded next, but I was nearly complete with the garden shed kit, I've now put together an upgrade pack for the house kits. This new kit in the range offers a 8'x6' wooden garden shed, also included is a 16'x8' brick built garage with slate roof.

Another easy to build offering which will just add some more basic detail onto the layout.

Here is the first proto type built, I've not included any instuctions as I believe these are so simple to follow.

I hope you all have fun with these.

Garage looks very nice Mike. I'm not enough of a masochist to scale these down to N tho'!

For anyone else scaling them down, I suggest leaving the side tabs a little larger/wider than they print at. This will make them easier to fold and glue and also provide some strength to the body.

Hi Kids,

Well it's here, yes the long awaited Wordsworth Backscene. Sorry it's taken so long but I've had to start this one from scratch as the one I made in MS Word would not import in Corel Draw X5.

Therefore this one is slightly different to the one I'm using on my own layout Wordsworth & it is the first in the new generation proto types, with a little more time I'll add more features but I believe it's at the stage where it can be used. (Put it this way I'm using it on South Fangore Hill, watch for this in my other thread)

It's a large kit at around 11mb, what you get on page 1 is the generic section which you print as many times to form the basic length, on page 2 & 3 is the left hand & right hand finishing pieces. All I do is cut off the surplus paper, stick it to a length of heavy duty card, I then stick this to the wall using Evostick contact adhesive.

This kit has been made with a false pavement, but if you wish to add your own pavement, just simply cut that section off and mount flush to the ground.

Here is a snap shot of the basic building block.

Image

Like I said this is the first generation, so I hope I can improve on this as I learn more techniques. The shop front backscene is not far away from completion so you'll be able to mix & match building the backscene to how you what it for your own layout.

Therefore if you fancy a go, follow the link as normal.

Hi Kids,

Now I'm building up my template database within Corel Draw it makes things easier & faster when designing new houses, by this I don't have to test each piece only the new additions if you get what I mean.

So I've added two more designs to the range, both are small houses using the basic model but I've added a small tweak to the 2nd one which has a downstairs extension at the front of the building.

The two new kits have been uploaded to my web site & are called Rosemary & Dorothy. Below is a picture showing how Dorothy looks. I've added some barge boards which still need a bit of a tweak, but you get the general idea.

Image

Don't worry I haven't forgotten about the shop backscene, should be complete soon.

Hope you enjoy.

Hi Mike your Dorothy house is definitely a step up from what was already good. Looks like you're getting on ok with the new software.
