Hi Boys & Girls,

First thanks for all the kind comments & I hope you all really do enjoy making & using these kits. Normally I spend an hour or so each day adding bits to the next kit but this morning I got carried away & before I had realised the time 8hrs had passed by. Therefore I can now confirm the first release of the terraced shop front backscene.

This kit can be used with the Terraced House backscene or as a independant one as this kit also includes left & right ends.

The below pic gives a general idea of what is included.

Hope you all enjoy.

Hi Mike,

(I also sent you an email with this question.)

My 5 year old grandson is coming to visit. Would your kits be suitable for him to at least have a reasonable attempt at. He does like that kind of activity. Obviously I would stick the templates to the card and cut out, and score where necessary; leaving him with the folding and sticking.
They do look wonderful and I shall be making some or all myself.

Best wishes
Glyn

Hi Glyn,

Posted you a reply via email but maybe other reading this thread may want to know my reply, or maybe other may have already tried these with the younger modelers of the future & can give there response.

But I feel these kits can be constructed by young hands, my only advice would be adult supervision at all times, & if the adult is the one doing the cutting & scoring (The dangerous bits) then fun will be had by all.

Whilst talking about these free kits have any modelers experienced issues with the pdf file asking for a password ? I've just received an email from one person that is having this issue, but only with the newer kits using my new graphics software, the older first generation kits he can open fine.

The only difference I can find is that the newer kits need Adobe version 9 or later, where the older first generation kits I made only need Adobe version 5 or later.

Anyone with any thoughts ? I would like everyone to get use from these free kits.

Thanks to all for your support.

Hi A J,

Do the first generation kits open OK as these are version 5 Adobe ?

If they do we may be in luck as I've just been looking at the Corel Draw X5 PDF settings, it defaults to saving in PDF Adobe version 9 but I can alter this in the preference settings & save it out as version 4, 5, 6, 7, 8 or 9, it also gives some other PDF formats I've not heard about, these are PDF/A-1b, PDF/X-3 or PDF/X-1a.

I picked PDF as I thought this would be the easiest way forward, never realised there was so many variants out there ???

So it could be back to the drawing board this weekend & save out the newest kits in Adobe version 5 ?

If we can confirm this is what I need to do, well I'll get on with it.

Cheers,

Mike.

Hi A J,

Yes they are all versions saved out to be read in Adobe Reader version 9 or later

I think we've found the solution to the problem, I've done a bit more research myself & found that Adobe Reader Version 9 or later reads PDF files of version 1.7 where Adobe Reader Version 5 can only read PDF files of up to version 1.5, anything above this....well I think I know what happens.

Therefore my task this weekend will be to save all those kits in that list as PDF version 1.5 (Or Adobe version 5)

Thanks for the info, hope I can have them all done & uploaded before Sunday night.

Cheers,

Mike.

Hi Kids,

Things have been quicker than I thought, all the problem kits have been saved into the same format as my first generation kits, therefore everyone should now have access.

If someone could let me know who did have issues it will then put my mind at rest. I'll then make a note to keep to this format.

Cheers.

Hi Troop,

Just can't get motivated to do any work on Wordsworth at present, but I have slowly been working on a small cottage kit which I have designed in two variants, one made with brick effect & grey slate roof, the other stone effect with thatched roof.

I think these two new additions will fill a small area just nicely, they are aimed as fisherman cottage or small holding cottage. Both will be uploaded later today onto my website for anyone that may want one.

Below is the proto type of "Heather" this is the stone effect one, "Lilly" (Not shown) is the brick effect version which I've added some extra detail, some ivy & climbing flowering plants around the doorway.

Let me know what you think.

I've saved these kits in PDF version 1.4, or you will need adobe version 5 or later to open these kits.

Hope you all enjoy as the Wordsworth Model Railway kit range expands even further.

It looks lovely. I've downloaded all the kits and hope to make most of them. I have a small layout, 6x4feet, but it will mean I can change scenery.
Thanks for doing these.

Mike, feel free to say get lost, just reply GL, then we'll both understand!
Ever thought about making a railway station? I particularly want, to be honest, a small country station.
With very best wishes

Hi Glyn,

An interesting idea, I've made one scratch built station which I'm using for North Fangore (Pictures can be seen in my layout thread) but I feel I can do something a little better now my knowledge has improved.

I still need to keep the kits simple as I would want everyone to get some use out of them, so I've made a start on the following proto-type, am I heading in the general direction you were thinking about ?

Image

The kit comes in three sections, it has the main center building which then has a left & right building either side, these are all then glued together to form the station. It has several small blue an white canopies, the main entrance way from the platform to the street has some detail with a door & window (These can't be seen in this diagram)

I've got this kit to the stage where I print it & then build it making sure all my measurements are correct & everything fits together, it's also the stage where some modifications are then introduced to the kit.

If all goes to plan I'll have a go at building the kit & get some photos this weekend. If it's not quite what you are looking for I've also sketched another variant which I'll give a whirl later.

Must remember to get back to work on Wordsworth as it's been a while since I did anything.

If I could get some feed back, what do you think of the first Proto type ? (Station "Daisy")

Catch you all later,

Mike.
