We stopped at Eridge station on the SVR yesterday in hope of some refreshments.
Although the train was still in earshot it wasn't in eyesight so we decided to race it to Groombridge station.
It was just pulling out of Groombridge as we arrived and headed by "Sir Keith Park" Battle of Britain class loco and tailed by "Sea King". A class 31 (I think).
I bought a book from the bookstall at Groombridge, "The railways of Devon and Cornwall" and also picked up a leaflet for the upcoming model railway weekend.
Dates are 11th & 12th September
Tickets (all valid for travel all day)
Adult £12
Senior (60+) £11
Child (2-15yrs) £6
Family (2 adults + 2 children) £30
Tickets for entry into the model railways only are also available.
Further details and to book - http://www.spavalleyrailway.co.uk
Some of the blurb - "We're operating our first model railway weekend this September with a gathering of model railways in a variety of scales, come along to see layouts at Tunbridge Wells West, Groombridge & Eridge with trade stands too"
"We are also running a Fish &Chip supper train on Saturday 11th September, advanced booking is essential"
I will be away next week but back late on the 11th so hopefully can attend on the Sunday.
Thanks
