Hello,
for my shunting layout I made four solid and rustic buffer stops. I used all the stuff shown on the photo below. The 35mm screw is inside. So they will never move ! Hope that helps someone...

You could make the part that the buffers hit sprung.

I'd use two screws and put a hole through the bottom part so that the hook on the coupler can pass through the block.
Growing old, can't avoid it. Growing up, forget it!

Very good idea but the screw is right in the middle of my buffer stops.Bufferstop wrote:I'd use two screws and put a hole through the bottom part so that the hook on the coupler can pass through the block.
Thanks for all your replies. Comments are always welcome. At the moment, I'm very happy with my big wooden buffer stops. Maybe one day I'll change my mind. Who knows ?

Instead one could extend the bufferbeam part outwards a bit. It would be nice if it was sprung as well.Bufferstop wrote:I'd use two screws and put a hole through the bottom part so that the hook on the coupler can pass through the block.
They are lovely things though. Nice and solid.
