Hello there !
I'm planning to use a Noch Grass Mat Spring Meadow for my layout. All your advices about it are welcome. Thanks in advance.

1. Make sure the board you are fixing it to is not completely flat, unless you are modelling a cricket pitch... It looks daft if laid on a flat surface.

2. I use slightly watered down PVA to glue grass mats down, the glue soaks into the backing at it means you can mould it to the contours more easily.

3. On it's own it looks a bit too "regular", you need to break it up with tufts of static grass to make it look a little wilder... Get hold of some decent photos of summer meadows and you'll see what i mean... Combining various types of grassmat can help as well...

As a good way of covering large areas grassmats are fine, though they do need some work to look realistic and not like a model...

Current layout, grassmat just laid, blending in to follow:

Grass mats are great for large area's, meadows/fields/embankments etc, but for smaller areas you should look into "static grass", also good for 'adding" variation to grass mats as mentioned by b308
