Affixing acrylics

Post by End2end »

I am well on my way to finishing my 2 Linka buildings that I have made. I have painted and weathered them using acrylic paints.
How can I cheaply "FIX" the paint?
I've heard of using non scented hairspray but cannot seem to find it.
I have looked at cheap ones from £land but am not sure if any of the 6 versions they do are acceptable.
http://www.poundland.co.uk/catalogsearc ... =hairspray
Thanks

Unless you are exhibiting the layout substitute "cheap" for "non scented"

Thanks for the reply Bufferstop. Do you have any recommendations of which hairspray to buy?
Thanks

Haven't had to buy any for years, I've always managed to scrounge part used ones that have gone out of favour.

Well we had Mrs End2end in fits of giggles when I told her us men were discussing hairsparys
With a bit more research in painting Linka models I found that one user uses a FIXATIVE SPRAY for chalk and pastels (as he weathers using chalk pastels) but after more digging I found out that this fixative spray actually darkens what it is sprayed on....not ideal, so I am wondering if hairspray does the same or leaves any shiny/glossy residue on the model, again not a wanted effect.
Does anyone know if this is the case?
More experimentation needed I think.
Luckily, and maybe a tip for other Linka users, the casts I made that did not come out perfect were not thrown away but instead glued together for test pieces.
Thanks
