Postby egroeg93 » Fri Apr 09, 2010 9:55 am

Theres two.. :P Can anyone with experience of them give me a bit of info on colours and period??

PM103

and..

PM136

Is either more suitable for modern era than the other?
And apart from the extra small parts, is the PM136 kit different to the PM103?

thanx

Erm, they look the same to me apart from the roof style and that the last one has a few oil drums extra. With regards to era I'd have thought thy were both for the same general era as they are basically diesel refuelling points (so not exactly pre-grouping steam era  ).

But seriously the best thing to do is to check out real examples from the period and area you are trying to replicate and base it on that.

I got the impression that they both came with both styles of roof. It seems to me that there are two versions, simply so that if you need two refuelling points, they don't have to be identical.

No you are wrong i have built several of theese kits and it states in the instructions the round roof is for the earlier end of steam early diesel and the rectangular one sloping is the modern one.So as your running modern image the oval one would be wrong. You need to use the other one.Check out other fueling points on modern image layouts and if using Knightwing they all have this style of roof.

I would have though that only applies to new built FPs. Surely it's quite conceivable that an FP built in the steam era with a rounded roof style lasted and was still in use in a later period.

It's rather ironic that the details for the roof are INSIDE the product and in the instructions
Surely these would be better ON the website or on the OUTSIDE of the product!

I have never seen a rounded roof on any of the fuel points I have seen
I decided upon the rectangular roof after looking at some photos from the 1980s and 1990s

I meant two versions of the kit, not the roof! Sorry, could have been clearer.

PM103 contains two fuel points,
PM136 contains one fuel point, but with extra details
