When the post brings such goodies... Its only right to start a workbench thread! Now to sort my tools and make a workspace to get building on!!

Not sure you can see what the kits are:
Parkside SECR PMV parcels van
2 Cambrain SECR 5 plank wagons
Cambrian SR 25t Brake ( not pictured)

This will be the first actual modelling I've done for quite some years!! Wish me luck... took me about 2 hours to make sense of the brake van instructions the other night!!!

Does this choice of stock mean you're going for steam era/green EMU's for your layout or are you just having a mess around with some kits?. Either way I'm really glad you've started modelling again.

Ahh, kit building wagons, always a pleasure to sit down to do and particularly when they are as good as those offered by Parkside and Cambrian.

Current thinking is steam initially. I've got my eye on the bachmann wainwright c class as first loco to get for this layout.. So can be secr or sr. These wagons all hung around till much later so am probably going to play fast and loose with era and run what I want. Mainly because of all the lovely liveries! I've got the DC kits 2 epb if I ever build it but with all the RTR Now I'm spoilt for choice!!

I forgot building kits was so fiddly

Brake van begins!

My other half's son has knocked this together in no time.. Not bad for his first railway kit.. And handy to have help building them


I've hardly done any of the brake van though as it was a bit of a puzzle how to build it for both of us!!

And in no time he's made 2 to my part complete 1!!!

They look great, I have a few Cambrian kits assembled myself, although it's the painting that has halted me, as I am too worried about brush strokes.......

Yes, once I've got a bunch made up I'll be getting myself a new airbrush and digging out the compressor. Its a pain in the backside to get all set up but once you actually do the painting bit its great! More kits to get and make first!

It's the initial outlay for a spray gun and compressor that worries me, especially if I don't get much usage out of it.

I have a draw full of kits that have been given to me as presents on various occasions... I expect that some will be vintage by the time I get around to building them

Got any southern stuff you might not ever need?
