Slow I know, been waiting for paints to dry !!
Had it's second coat of Bauxite, currently still damp, but have given the
running boards a woodish coloured undercoat.

Still needs it's extended stove-pipe chimney, roof painting and several
lamp brackets.

Finishing is such a drag, getting to decals is what will make it come
alive.

All construction finished
Wot no decals - Ahh that's because the decal sheet that comes with
the kit was duff !! A press-fix type, but one that had no adhesive to either
hold in place when pressed, or when wet and tissue removed. Now had to
order a HMRS decal sheet from which I can get everything except the allocation
name 'Thirsk' that I wanted to use !!

Gateshead being the only suitable decal for an allocation address.
I will try a few ideas on the duff decal sheet, I've not given up on
it yet, this is finished short of a light weathering and overall
varnish therefore if I screw up the original sheet nothing lost !!

Not easy, but great fun and I like the results.

Really attractive build Geoff. Birdcage stock is fascinating. I still want one and did find photos of an LMS (probably ex-LNWR) one, but it couldn’t really be bashed from the NE kit. I’m sure I’ve seen photos of a pre-grouping Welsh one too, but I can’t find the source.
