Dapoll Dispatch

Postby hiffano » Thu May 07, 2015 2:45 pm

So, i ordered an EWS86 on the special offer, DCC fitted for £70.
now, I'm still awaiting arrival of this (it was dispatched on the 27th) and chased up dapol for a tracking number or somesuch, so imagine my surprise when they said it was sent normal post.
this is a £70 Item (or more when not on sale) yet normal post has £20 compensation!
I'm quite suprised by this really. Has anyone else had experience of delayed delivery, or sadly a non delivered item? i'm a bit worried that I've spent £70 and won't get anything :-(

at the end of the day its OK as if it goes missing its down to them to replace / refund it, still i would have expected them to post it signed for at least!

Post office have advised nothing is sat on a shelf and that items are classed as missing at 10-12 days after dispatch. Just mailed Kevin at Dapol. lets see what happens.

Post office's recording of what happens can be rather suspicious at times. We once had a package shown as collected and at mail centre. Fortunately we took a screen shot of that, as three days later it changed to not available at origin. They tried to argue that as it wasn't there to be collected they weren't responsible for its loss. Unfortunately for them that screen shot showed them as taking responsibility for it, thus denying us the opportunity to locate it. They stumped up for it a few weeks later.

finally got a replacement, sans DCC chip, but i'm just taking it as a win.

1st loco lost. replacement offered to be posted out with my new purchase (did not get put in)
replacement arrives as a DCC ready loco, not DCC fitted as paid for (and lost by Royal Fail)

to be fair, Kevin has been very easy to communicate with and can't be blamed for royal mails failings.

From years of experience I reckon there are some places in the Royal Mail/Parcel Farce network where it pays not to advertise what's inside the packet, liable to turn up burst or torn with the interesting bits missing.
