I saw that! I love the look of the area. Its got a great feel to it.

Excellent. Now you have the feel of the area you like. Building models of actual buildings and scenery etc. will become more pleasurable. Looking forward to see the progress.

Good choice! The Wye Valley is a lovely part of the country too, so great inspiration for scenic work.

As for stock, a Class 25 is always a good choice, or maybe a Class 20, and a Standard 4MT tank (80xxx class) is a very standard (boom boom) piece of kit at many heritage railways, so I'd always suggest one of them, no matter the region.

I was thinking more tank engines would be a better idea. Especially without the facility to turn the engines, at least to the viewers eye on the layout.

As far as the 4MT goes, Hornby or Bachmann? I can't find a solid answer on which is better. Probably throw in a large prairie as well

The beauty of your Heritage Line is you can say 'members' have bought and restored locomotives. Invariably they would be tank locomotives, (unless there is the odd millionaire as a member  ).

Just remember it is your layout, you can run what you like. :D Enjoy the journey.

Would your heritage line be eligible for lottery funding?

That was pretty much why I chose to make one instead of something prototypical

It has arrived! Will post more when I finish playing with them lol. I'm extremely pleased with the Hall. I know that there are some who are not a fan of the clever design but, when its running on a layout... its hard to tell.

Now what were we saying about the heritage lottery?

Okay, so I've decided to display all of my engines and some of the stock on a shelf for now, until I build the table.

Mainline railtour capable engines

I will say I am thoroughly impressed with the Hornby Hall, I had a Bachmann Hall a few years ago and it was nice, but there is just something about this one... I will say that it is an excellent runner, and even though it feels light it still pulls well.

It will become 4924 Eydon Hall when I can order the plates from Fox Transfers.

I love the look of this little mixed train...

Very good. The Hall reminds me of the Mainline Manor I used to have. Beautiful detail and it ran well.

We desperately need a new Manor Class. I would pay to have a new DCC ready version. My very first purchase from the U.K. Was a Bachmann Lechlade Manor. I adore that class.
