I'd generally agree with that - the discomfort with the Woodhead machines isn't just on price grounds, but a combination of that plus a slapdash attitude to accuracy. I dont think the pricing of the 05 will put off many people who really want one; but it might discourage multiple sales, which is a subtly different thing.

I wonder how many people like myself will be waiting for big discounts and get one then? I got a 23 at about 1/2 rrp recently. If I come across an 05 at 1/2 rrp sometime in the future, then I'll have one.

Likewise, anything that is interesting or 'nice to have' can wait, it will turn up at the right price in time.
But the 'right stuff'', essentially any model of a subject that my modelling needs, I am quite happy to pay if I can afford it, and the model is good enough for the asking price. RTR is still cheaper than building completely from kits, and more significantly kit building time is fighting it out with layout building time and layout operation time. Kits often go weeks between additions, and my C12 has still to see any paint about three years since I finished it.
