Check out this minimum radius junction.

Some very unhappy flanges there by the sound of things!

I wish peco would do a three way point that short.

According to Wikipedia the minimum curve radius on the Chicago "L" is 90 feet, which scales down in 00 to 14.17" (360mm) so it is actually slightly sharper than 1st radius which is 14.6" (371mm) :D

But it does show you how sharp a curve 1st radius looks like in real life!

And those are SHORT coaches. Important with minimum curves.
The more modern image the layout, the more this crops up as an issue?

At 4.00+, a look at some "what do I do here?" sleepering from a model railway layout.

.. and if you look at a close up of the coaches (example Image you can see that the bogies are positioned very close to the ends of the coaches to minimise overhang at the coach ends

Yes, noticed that, I've never seen radial sleepering before. When the curve is so sharp and the sleepers span supporting girders it becomes almost inevitable.

How does this compare with the curve at Morpeth?

Well Morpeth is nowhere near as sharp as that for a start, it's 50mph and if you tried them at 50 they'd be on the floor underneath in no time!

There's been an interesting discussion on sharp curves on BR on RMWeb which is worth a read:

Morpeth is 340 metres radius, which would be around 14.6ft Radius in 00! Converting backwards, a 24" radius curve, considered a reasonable radius in 00 works out at 46.4m radius
