Train crew transport

Postby knottinbotswana » Wed Jun 12, 2013 12:16 pm

We've all heard about supertankers having bicycles on board for the crew to get from one end to the other, how about this?

From an article on the South African Class 9E: "a compartment houses a small motor scooter for use by the crew"

Plenty of other interesting links within the article, I ended up there after a conversation with an Australian colleague about Southern Africa's mineral resources.

Highlights include:
The railway line on which they run;
The replacement locos;
and the mines that they serve.

Edit to add: scroll north and spot the comedy place name.
