Another vote for "dalek", that's what we were taught! "Emergency restriction of speed" (EROS) board is their official designation, is not not? Nice example went into use yesterday at Shawford to protect a broken rail on the Up Fast...

Some strange man with a screw driver asked if I had seen a Dalek the other day, I pointed him to one of theses signs but he said to me to stop wasting his time. He stepped into a police phone booth so I just walked away hoping he was not calling the police on me for wasting his time.

Another one for 'rule one' I have seen pictures of and spoke to someone who saw it first hand... A 2 car DMU broke down on the Norwich-Birmingham in the late 70's at Peterborough. Rather than cancel, it was dragged forward by a Deltic as far as Leicester where it swapped with the unit on the Birmingham-Norwich and returned to Peterborough
Can anyone recall or supply me with numbers?

According to the "Chronicles of Napier" website

21.02.79
55019 hauled 2M59 13:57 Peterborough - Leicester (assisting failed DMU - due to fuelling dispute at various depots) and 2E59 15:23 Leicester - Peterborough.

Cheers!! A Deltic hauling EMUs is quite a common sight at the moment in Scotland, 55022 has been hired to move EMUs from Yoker to Kilmarnock for refurbishment and repainting.

Also how about this one http://www.scot-rail.co.uk/photo/scaled/15090

You'll see all sorts of strange stock movements during the xmas break, I had two class 165's pass through Swindon during the early hours the other night a very rare occurance.

I agree, Eagle, but I think we are on the losing side on that one... We'll be calling them "railroads" next...
