Update on 4472 'Flying Scotsman'

Postby bocaj » Mon Oct 03, 2011 6:51 pm

Just checked the NRM website and it has said the Return of the Flying Scotsman is Expected to be in Late Spring 2012 following Delays.
I think this is a shame, I thought that it would be ready about Christmas time.

This loco is causing alot of trouble!

Cracks have been found in the main stretchers, the boiler has been removed and new stretchers are being made. Also the wheels were slightly out of line of something. They were at the Severn Valley Railway, now should be at the South Devon Railway.

Is it me or does it seem a bit risky to be committing her to all these things next year when they still don't seem to be 100% sure of when the work will be complete?

Tornado or FS I don't mind, they are both amazing locos!
Yes it is a bt risky booking it in for events which it probably won't be able to go to. It Should be ready for the Olympic Tourch, depending on when it is. I should imagine it would be in June sometime so it should be ready.

It does amaze me that the cost of buying her and then rebuilding has cost £5million and yet it cost just £3 milllion to build Tornado from scratch
