In Leeds station I went in Union of south Africa's Cab
And at the North Yorkshire Moors Railway I went in an A3's cab and on the same day I also went in Sir Nigal Gresly's Cab
At the NRM I went onto Mallard's Cab
And a diffrent day at the NRM I went in this huge chinese locomotive's cab too

The only rides I got during trainspotting days other than short hops whilst shunting or stationary locos was the local trip freight some of the local signalmen used to let us come up into the box which was down the yard away from the station and occassionally the drivers on the trip freight would take us up to Ketton box where they reversed and crossed over to get access to wards sidings to pick up loaded cement tanks and would drop us back at the signalbox probably not quite 10 miles but A nice little interlude in the afternoons spotting I couldn't tell you which locos though they were almost always a 31 or occassionally a 37 so I think there were 4 31's and a 37 (all March locos)

The most memorable, 7032 Denbigh Castle October 1963, the crew were running the loco back, and forth thro' Old Oak shed yard after a minor fault had been rectified, and were inviting 'spotters for rides on the footplate.
In my days working as a volunteer loco fitter at Swanage, I rode in the cab of the following locos after completing running repairs;- Normandy,120,30053,34072,30075,41708,46443,7752,5619,69621.

When my uncle was alive he was a train driver for BR and during the late 80's he took me for a ride in the cab from Pentrebach to Merthyr Tydfil in a class 150/2, He let me sit on his knee and push the lever up which was soooooo cool for an 8 year old :)

I sat in the cab of 37702 (Taff Merthyr), Would love to know what happened to her.

Fired 5322 (under quite a bit of supervision) a few weeks back at Didcot, and hopefully soon, I'll get a cab ride in the rail motor :)

7715 while shunting 6024 in the yard at Quainton,
and 6024 on the demonstration line on it's re-launch in 1989

I was only young at the time, so I was just a passenger

I've cabbed a few more aswell. At the Middleton Railway a couple of months ago I cabbed two steam locomotives cabs and a Deisel Shunter while wating to board the train. Then at an exhibiton their a few weeks ago I cabbed a steam locomotive while wating for the train to leave the platform. I will be cabbin Mallard again in August.
