Favourite small diesel Loco (not shunter)

Postby 50035 Ark Royal » Fri Nov 26, 2010 12:48 am

Hi what would you consider to be your favourite small diesel Loco in relation to size? Out of Classes 15/17/20/22/23/24/25/26/27/and 33?
For me it has to be the Southern Reigon Type 3 as theese locos worked a variety of duties including Express Passenger/Boat trains/Push pull hauling 4tc/Secondary passenger/Parcels/Freight/Engineering.
Great noise plenty of chrachter and quite a bit of clagg and i believe but not sure some are still in service.
Surely the most succesful of all those i have listed? and defintely my favourite.
Any views?

Class 25 for me 8)

Lots of childhood memories of seeing them almost everyday and hearing them on my two local lines.

Is this thread really in the correct section?

I know it's the fastest .....but why did they have to name it after a duck?

can't even consider answering anything other than a 20 here, in very mucky br blue, preferably double headed.

several months ago i despised this loco, no idea why i now love it.
