50135 Loadhaul Livery

Postby 50035 Ark Royal » Fri Jul 02, 2010 12:19 am

Hi some member Splop has posted pics of said loco on my layout thread and it got me thinking what other members of the Forum think.
Personaly i do not like it and would have prefered the Alliance to keep it in a proper livery Large Logo.I can understand why they did it as it is different and attracts attention. So youre opinions wether you like class 50's or not. Please no spamming or stupid comments.
This is a serious question
many thanks

why not post a picture of it here, so that we have a reference to vote... also, you would do well to re-word the second option chap.

I think like D444 should have been left alone and kept in blue or large logo.It although looks striking does,nt suit her.

Hi Richard totaly agree the 50,s never carried Load Haul Livery or Two Tone Green in thier career's so why paint them in that livery? If Alliance wanted to paint Ark Royal why not paint her in Dutch similar to 15.Im glad i am no longer chasing 50's as i would be slightly embarrased at chasing her in this Livery.Yes striking but does not suit her as you said. The worst bit for me is the ugly big loadhaul transfers  However on the bright side im sure she won't be in that livery for long and she is still with us :D :D

Better a talking point in a ficticious livery that actually attracts attention than being one of many in a livery carried in service. How do you make a common crapheap stand out in a crowd? Paint it a different livery.

The class as a whole. Some individuals may be less crap than others, but as a whole they were still so naff that they were withdrawn within a decade of refurbishment. Certain other EE classes that were already 20+ years old put in another 20+ years following refurbishment and are still doing well in mainline service in the small numbers that still exist. Some of the 20s were bordering on 40 years old before refurbishment! Says enough really doesn't it?

I'm having to ask for strength from my higher power to remember that it isn't the Class 50 which i'm starting to get bored of, but it's constant reference on a daily basis, and that if i am resenting that someone has ruined the enjoyment of a particular class of locomotive for me, then it is better to breath deep, remember it isn't the class 50's... it's the chap whose obsessed with them, and to then move on to other things, like working on my own layout etc.

So what i'm saying i guess, is, i still like class 50 locomotives, and i am dealing with your constant reference to them at every given opertunity a bit better, so carry on... and to everyone else, don't let it taint your liking of a fairly handsome class of diesel, but certainly not the b-all and end-all of railway traction. :)
