Re: Track Cleaner
I don't have experience of that model but the old ones have the felt attached to the body (no weight other than the body), that type is, I imagine a metal block dragged by the bogies, so has a lot more weight pushing down on the felt. (an obvious improvement). It certainly looks a better design than most of the loose hinged types, but obviously can only carry a limited amount of liquid cleaner, whereas the 'Brass Tank' type will continually drip fluid on.
Re: Track Cleaner
TMC are a reputable business, but what's it made of ? How is that pad underneath supported ? I can't see any connection. Does it use fluid or is it dry ? I have a CMX cleaning tank wagon, made of solid brass which uses fluid on the pad. It holds about 40ml of IPA and does a brilliant job although it was expensive and needs a good heavy centre motored diesel to push it round. I'd be asking the questions before I bought it.
Pete.
Re: Track Cleaner
TMC is registered in Beck Hole, North Yorkshire? I don't know if any of you have ever been there but its a tiny hamlet. Did somebody just buy TMCs name when they went t*ts up?

Re: Track Cleaner
A little research gives.......
"WHERE WE ARE
We can be found in the small village of Beck Hole, which is located within the North Yorkshire Moors National Park. Our prime location is situated within walking distance of the North Yorkshire Moors Railway line, where steam trains run regularly throughout the year.
Also available at our idyllic setting are three executive holiday cottages, one B&B room, and two static caravans. Hill Farm Holiday Cottages allow you to take advantage of the great outdoors, or provide a perfect place to relax and unwind.
OUR HISTORY
TMC was founded in 1998 as the Trafford Model Centre, operating from the Festival Village store in The Trafford Centre, Manchester. TMC grew rapidly, to such an extent that a head office was established in Tockwith, and several more shops were opened in Leeds, Sheffield, Nottingham, Dudley, and Liverpool, all of which were acquired by ModelZone."

I have the same CMX cleaner and find it excellent.Peterm wrote:TMC are a reputable business, but what's it made of ? How is that pad underneath supported ? I can't see any connection. Just a few observations on the Bachmann HO one
I don't see any method of getting cleaning fluid IPA on to the cleaning pads, the CMX has a needle valve to drip feed the fluid.
I don't see a filler cap/air vent, if they are all in the tank top cover they cant be very user friendly.
The body looks like its made of plastic!
There does not seem to be any weight in the wagon to keep the pad on the track, just a trailing coupling
Just a few thoughts

Re: Track Cleaner
Whilst I have the CMX I have found the KPF Zeller one to be excellent - for the ultimate clean have an idea of loco sandwiched between the CMX and KPF ones trundling up and down
UK seller of the KPF is Ten Commandments
http://tencommandmentsmodels.co.uk/prod ... ing-wagon/
One issue with the KPF one is that the NEM mounts are unusually on the low side.

Re: Track Cleaner
I have just noticed that TEN COMMANDMENTS have released a track cleaning wagon for N and 00 gauge. £44.00 each.

Not sure when it was released, I've just noticed it in an advert.
The wheel cleaning unit looked interesting too.... until I realised you need one of their rolling roads to go with it.
Thanks

Re: Track Cleaner
The Ten Commandments one is the KPF Zeller one I referred to in my previous posting; they have been selling it for a few years. The one issue I did find was the NEM coupling mount is too low.
