Bachmann engines and Peco Streamline 075 track.

Post by shezza2 »

Hi all, I have been told to be careful which engines I purchase to run on Peco Streamline 075 track (flange on wheels) Could someone tell me if the new Bachmann engines would have this problem?

The problem with the flanges mainly only affects models from more than 20 years ago. It's products from Triang, early Triang Hornby, Playcraft (Jouef) and Lima, Mainline/Bachmann and AIrfix/GMR wheels were ok from the start. Probably the most notorius flanges are those on the early Triang motor bogies which not only had very deep flanges, the treads were knurled, I've run one of these on a length of code 75 without it bunping on the sleepers, but there's no way these wheels will go through modern points. There's a possible problem with all flexible track, you can produce curves of too small a radius for rigid wheelbase models, ie. steam locos and 0-6-0 diesels.
