Class 20 stopped running.

Postby Nathan20138 » Sat Jan 08, 2011 12:18 pm

I have a Graham Farish cl 20, had it about a year, while it was fine when it was purchased, it has now stopped working.

The power seems to be conecting as there is a buzzing noise as normal but no movement.
I'm presuming its a problem with the gears but i'm not about to start taking the thing to pieces.

Any ideas? Would a drop of oil sort this out or should i send it away for repair?

Thanks in advance for any help, Nathan.

If it is buzzing but not moving don't hold on the power as it will surely burn the motor out. It sounds as though all is needed is a good old service. If you are not sure how to do this then take it to a model shop that carry out servicing or find one online that you can send it to.

If its Graham Farish N gauge, give Bob Russel at BR Lines a try for servicing/repairs :)
No connection just a satisfied customer.

Hi chaps, thanks for the replies.

I got in touch with Bob at BR Lines and for a tenner i can have it serviced, although, its actually started woking, not great at first but eventually started running reasonably well (yesterday), alot better today. Running forwards, bonnet first, it seems fine, really smooth and quiet but cab first a tad noisey.

I'm going to see how it goes the next couple of days and make a decision then, although for future repairs etc i shall send them to BR Lines as they seem to provide a great service.

Thanks, Nathan.
