What a strange move for Bachmann to do this ?

Plain livery but nice loco, had a Lima model of Aviemore ??? in the same livery was one of my fav's...

Makes a mockery of the collectors club, I also hope the club models will be better this year than the ones released in 2009 !!

From what I've read on various forums, it was a Modelzone limited edition model that was cancelled due to lack of interest.

Fair play to Bachmann for releasing it to the public, though it's not cheap by the time you add the VAT and P&P charges.

Still, I've one on order.

Shame really Bachmann didnt release it as a general issue. £17.50 to join the club then the cost of the model not really attractive unless its a must have for someone.

Really??? If that is correct, I stand corrected. The whole idea of joining a club at a cost inorder to buy another 'limited Ed' doesnt sit right with me somehow, even though I joined to buy the 8750 pannier in Stephenson Clarke! :D

I thought you may all be interested in the answer from Bachmann :-

Geoff T.

Many thanks for bringing the posting on http://www.newrailwaymodellers.co.uk to my attention and for giving me the opportunity to correct the information contained therein.

Firstly this model of No. 45975 was commissioned by a dealer and subsequently cancelled. I can clearly state that it was not Modelzone who cancelled this order as they have recently taken delivery of their own limited edition Class 47 in Network SouthEast livery.

Secondly you do not have to be a Bachmann Collectors' Club member to order this - it is not a Bachmann Collectors' Club item for the reasons outlined above. The Bachmann Collectors' Club commissions its own limited edition models which tend to sell out very quickly.

I trust that this will enable anyone who wants to buy this model to do so

In the past I would agree with him, however a lot of the 2009 collectors models are still in stock and not sold out, he stands corrected.....

What depot was 47 975 allocated to in this livery, please? I can't make out the cabside plaque from the photo on Bachmann's own site. :?:

According to the Class 47 site, this locomotive was only carried this number between Aug 24th 1990 (named Sept 2nd 1991) and Dec 18th 1995 when it was renumbered 47 540.

While it was numbered 47 975 it was allocated to Crewe until March 1993, and then Bescot for a brief stint before going back to Crewe until April 1995 when it went into storage at Sheffield Tinsley. After renumbering it seems to have been a Tinsley based RFD machine which spent most if its time in storage and eventually ended up on the EWS strategic reserve and then for parts recovery.

47 540 was stored along with Mk2 coaches at Sinderby from 2002 until 2008.
AFAIK; 47 540 is now stored at the Wensleydale Railway HQ, at Leeming Bar.
I could be wrong, but I think the Mk2 coaches have now been scrapped.
