Train-Tech Sound Effect Capsules

Postby Tallpaul70 » Sat Sep 07, 2019 2:06 pm

Has anyone experience of using Train Tech Sound Effect Capsules?

In particular, do they function as advertised?
Does the built in motion sensor deliver appropriate sounds for speeds?
Are they really easy to fit to locomotives?
How long do the batteries last?

Many thanks
Best regards
Paul

I have a DCC layout. All of my locos have sound until I bought an H Class steam engine where theres no way to fit sound. So the sound is fitted in this case to the brake wagon instead and heres two videos that show if off perfectly

I had one in a break second coach. That train gets parked near the window (the house is straight onto the street). Every time a lorry went past I would hear steam train noises.
Edit: This shortened the life of the battery considerably. I got the feeling that battery life would have been reasonable otherwise. I also used battery powered sets of vibration-triggered coach lights, which worked quite well, apart from similar problems of traffic triggering them.

No, the sounds do not vary according to the loco speed.

They should fit inside a loco tender, space in a diesel would be a problem due to the "amplifier tube" and the sensor wire. I prefer to fit the examples I have in an item of rolling stock that is compatible with both freight or passenger use i.e. a parcels van or CCT etc.
